The volcano route follows lenghtways the GR 131. It begins in Refugio del Pilar, 1450 m high. And ends in the far south, directly at the lighthouse of Fuencaliente. Hiking trails on La Palma. It is a comfortable path to walk, without strong ascents. But it is a long way, which can take the whole day on foot. The tracks on La Palma are not everywhere the same. The volcano route offers volcano landscape with spectacular views. On the way you find different volcanic cones of historical origin. During this tour you can also enjoy the view to the Caldera de Taburiente.

Coastal hiking trails

The GR 130 offers a spectacular landscape close to the ocean. From the municipality of Puntallana to San Andrés you cross different exotic plantations, nearby to impressive cliffs. Another example of the variety of landscapes which you can discover on the tracks. The one from Barlovento to Franceses is also recommendable. The path is getting closer or away from the coast, crossing different deep ravines (barrancos).

Laurel forests

Some local tracks enter in the evergreen forest of the northeast of La Palma. Here the landscape is characterized by laurel forests and huge ferns. This area is humid during the whole year. The path through the Cubo de la Galga is a wonderfull option; but also the track to the forest of Los Tilos which leads to Barlovento.

Almond Blossom

In the winter season the almond blossom takes place on La Palma. Therefore january or february ist the right moment for discovering the tracks in the northeast part of the island. In this time climate is more comfortable than in other areas.

The hiking trail GR 130 or also its local connections lead us to mediterranean places. Enormous, ancient dragon trees are mixed with wide areas of blossoming almond trees. The track from Las Tricias to Puntagorda offers an idyllic landscape. Also the one to Tijarafe is an evidence of the variety of La Palma.
